StarCraft 2
Yeah, in case anyone wonders where I am; I'm probably gonna be busy for the next several weeks!
Seriously though, anyone else who'll be playing just hit me up in PM so we can connect via RealID.

Re: StarCraft 2
Wow, the trailer I watched was quite amazing. Is that a first person game Nan?

Re: StarCraft 2
Nope, RTS just like the first game. There are some new units and abilities, but they largely kept the gameplay exactly the same since it's the third most popular game of all time... after their other little game World of Warcraft and everybody's favorite: The Sims.

Re: StarCraft 2
I have the attention span of a moth and don't really play those types of games however that one intrigues me.

Re: StarCraft 2
Lol, you and over 11 million others!
The gameplay and graphics are great, but for me personally it's the fact that my Dad and two brothers and I all played it together. Was a blast growing up and can't wait to repeat it now that we're all older.

Re: StarCraft 2
In case anyone wasn't sure; the game is in fact awesome and more involved than I expected. I don't feel cheated for having paid $60 or even for waiting 12 years, well almost.

Re: StarCraft 2
Unfortunately I'm not impressed. I'm sure I would like the game if I played it, but I'm not shelling out $60 for 1/3 of the game it should be. Since WoW, Blizzard has become a money sucking leech from hell. And now a little list of complaints.
Quote:
Blizzard made the mistake of treating it's customers like pirates, and in so doing, it alienate and frustrate the very people who have purchased their product while doing nothing to prevent the dedicated thieves from getting what they want anyway (lose, lose).
1. Online activation is fine, but c'mon, every 30 days we have to check back in? And if we're not online, we have to be a "guest" user on our own computers with our own game? And even better, any progress we do make cannot be synced to our online accounts.
2. Only ONE account per game license. So if you have three kids that want to play, and you want to play too, you better be prepared to drop $240 or share the same account with everyone in your family.
3. No LAN. That's right. The very thing that made SC so popular has been completely excised from SC2. Go figure.
4. No Spawn. The best free marketing tool I ever saw. Gone.
5. Everything is ONLINE. If you're not online, you can't sync later.
6. Price. $60 for 1/3 of the game

And if that's not bad enough.. it can also destroy your graphics card.
Quote:
One of the biggest game releases of the year is Starcraft 2, the sequel to one of the biggest games of all time. However there are numerous reports of issues, one of which that can destroy your graphics card in your computer.
Adam Biessener from Game Informer had his card "fry", saying this in his attempt at live blogging the game.
"Three hours of cursing later, I'm posting this from my wife's laptop because both my graphics card and my work laptop appear to be fried."
Blizzard has told people via their technical support Website, that they are aware of the issue, and seeking to solve the problem.
"Screens that are light on detail may make your system overheat if cooling is overall insufficient. This is because the game has nothing to do so it is primarily just working on drawing the screen very quickly."
The bug is caused when the game gets to a menu, and then the game will continually render it over and over again. This is due to the fact that the game has no frame rate lock on the menu so it continually recreates the menu until your card fries.
Luckily, a quick fix is exactly that, a quick fix, go to the directory that you have installed Starcraft 2, and locate the "variables.txt" file. Possible directory may be this "Documents\StarCraft II\variables.txt".
Once you are at the .txt file, add the following:
frameratecapglue=30
frameratecap=60
Hopefully Blizzard can release a patch, to rectify the issue soon, so no more people have to have a dead card on their hands.
